HOPE FOR CHILDREN
WITH AUTISM IN MALAWI

Hope for
Autism Foundation in Malawi is a charity organization which has just been
established in Malawi under the trustees Act. It is the first charity
organization established specifically for Autism in Malawi. 
Our aim
is to address the growing need to assist children and their families with
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). To help
families attain the care, treatment, and educational support they may not
otherwise be able to receive. To assist with cost of schooling, physical,
occupational, and speech therapies; provide care and support for children and
families; help parents learn how to better support and teach their child; and
also help families attain other services specific to the needs of their child.
In
addition, the organization has the following strategic activities:

Create support groups composed of parents with
autistic children who will share their history and experiences in managing
Autism.
·
Source
needs and wants for Autistic children.
·
Counsel
and bring awareness to parents and caregivers.
·
Impart
skills training in form of life skills and vocation training where possible for
their economic sustainability.
·
Carry
out legally fund raising activities for sustenance of our programs.
·
Ensure
networking with other equally minded groups and other stakeholders.
Children
born with autism are often dismissed in black communities as bewitched or demon
possessed or even mentally disabled. As
a result of these misconceptions, children with autism are not cared for in a
way that meets their specific needs.
Hope for
Autism Foundation in Malawi has therefore been established to bring awareness
and acceptance to the people of Malawi.
The
organization is in the process of establishing a website. We are also currently
intending to facilitate a comprehensive assessment to children with Autism at
Patsogolo Memorial School in BCA hills.
We are therefore appealing to well-wishers to help us realize our dream
