POLY CLASSES TO RESUME ON MONDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2012
Memo from the college Registrar posted on Porters. |
Happiness could not be hidden on the students' faces who braved themselves to be on campus despite learning not taking place.
It is not known whether the lecturers have accepted the 25% salary increase offered by government. The Polytechnic lecturers started boycotting classes on 6th August 2012 demanding a 113% pay hike citing the recent devaluation of the kwacha as the mojor reason amongst other reasons.
Second Semester opened on 30th July and was supposed to finish on 9th November according to the Polytechnic academic calendar. It is obvious that the closing date will be extended to accommodate the seven weeks that has been lost due to the industrial action.
What lessons have been learnt from the devaluation of the kwacha?

ATUPELE MULUZI UNDER FIRE - ASKED TO RESIGN AS MINISTER
A United Democratic Front meeting held on 7th September 2012 at the former president's residence in BCA has resolved that UDF should pull out from government.
Tempers were high at the meeting as angry party officials accused Atupele Muluzi of not fighting for the party in Her Excellency Joyce Banda's administration. The angry supporters said UDF's working with government is not benefiting them and pointed out that the Peoples Party governemnt is just using the UDF and will dump it after 2014.
The supporters cited Malawi Congress Party's demands to support the Peoples Party Government. They said Hon John Tembo clearly said that his party will support the PP government on condition that he be appointed the 2nd Vice President and that his senior party members be given diplomatic positions and they signed an agreement on the same.
With this development, it means UDF will now be in the opposition side when parliament convenes and Hon Atupele Muluzi will be making his resignation announcement any day.
More details to come. Follow this page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
